Planning a Business Website in Qatar: What to Decide Before You Build

A practical starting point for a website that explains your business and makes enquiries easier.

A new website starts with a business decision, not a colour palette. Before choosing layouts or features, decide who the website should help and what you want those visitors to do.

For a business in Qatar, that might mean helping a customer understand your services, request a quotation or find your office. A clear brief gives the project direction and helps you compare proposals on the same basis.

1. Choose one main goal

What would make the website useful to your business? A service company might prioritise qualified enquiries. A retailer might need online orders. Another business may need a customer portal rather than a public marketing website.

Choose the main action first. Supporting pages, navigation and buttons should make that action easy to find.

2. Describe your customers and their questions

List the questions customers ask before contacting you. What do you provide? Who is it for? What information do you need to prepare a quotation? Where do you operate?

Decide whether your audience needs English, Arabic or both. If you need a bilingual website, include translation, right-to-left layouts and ongoing content updates in the project scope.

3. Prepare useful content before design

Start with accurate service descriptions, contact details and a short introduction to your company. Use genuine photographs and project examples where you have permission to share them.

Explain what you do in plain language. A visitor should be able to understand your services without interpreting technical terms or searching through several pages.

4. Plan the mobile enquiry journey

Think through the route from opening a page to sending an enquiry. Keep important information readable, buttons easy to use and forms limited to the details you need for the first conversation.

Ask to review the website on a small screen during development. Check navigation, text wrapping, form fields and confirmation messages—not just the homepage.

5. Include search visibility in the brief

Give each important service a useful page with a clear heading, descriptive title and relevant information. Mention Qatar or Doha where it accurately describes your business and the customers you serve.

Search-friendly wording should still read naturally. Adding a location or repeating a keyword does not guarantee a Google ranking; the page must help people understand your offering.

6. Agree ownership, launch and support

Your proposal should explain the pages and features included, who supplies content, how revisions work and what happens after launch. Clarify access to your domain, hosting, source files and any paid services.

Also agree how enquiries will reach your team, who will maintain the website and how future changes will be handled. These decisions matter beyond the launch date.

A short brief you can prepare today

  • Your main website goal and intended audience.
  • The services or products you want to feature.
  • Your preferred languages and essential features.
  • The content you already have and what is still needed.
  • Your target timeline and an indicative budget, if available.
