The furniture is in place, but the meeting room loses Wi-Fi and nobody knows who owns the business email administrator account. These are frustrating problems to discover after the team moves in.
When planning an office in Doha, treat the network and account setup as part of the move, alongside furniture and access arrangements.
Start with the floor plan and daily work
List the expected users, computers, printers, phones and meeting-room equipment. Note where video calls happen and which systems need a wired connection.
Ask the building manager and connectivity provider about available services, installation access and lead times. Do not assume an existing socket means a working connection is ready for your business.
Plan Wi-Fi coverage, not just router placement
Walls, room layout and equipment affect coverage. Assess the space before choosing access-point positions, then test it after installation with doors closed and people using the rooms.
Separate guest access from business devices where the equipment supports it. Record network names, device locations and who manages changes. Label installed cables so future troubleshooting does not become guesswork.
Put business accounts under business control
Use your own domain for staff email and decide who can create users, reset access and manage billing. Keep recovery arrangements accessible to authorised business owners.
Enable multi-factor authentication where available, use individual accounts and remove access when someone leaves. NIST's small-business guidance recommends MFA and other basic protections as part of routine security management. Reference: NIST cybersecurity basics
Decide what happens during an interruption
Identify the work that cannot stop: calls, orders, files or access to a hosted application. Discuss suitable connectivity and power backup options with your providers rather than assuming one backup device protects everything.
Keep copies of important configuration details and arrange backups appropriate to your data. Test restoring a sample file; the existence of a backup job alone does not show that recovery works.
Ask for a usable handover
Request a device list, network diagram, support contacts, warranty details and secure transfer of administrator access. Test meeting-room calls, printing, guest access and normal staff tasks before accepting the installation.
AWKASA's Office Networking & Telephony service can help plan the agreed office setup. Provider subscriptions, building permissions and installation dependencies should be confirmed in the project scope.
Share your office layout and expected team size so we can discuss the requirements.
